GOG-111 — Cyclophosphamide and Cisplatin Compared with Paclitaxel and Cisplatin in Patients with Stage III and Stage IV Ovarian Cancer
Phase 3 · 1996 · Ovarian Cancer
Design
Randomized phase 3 trial comparing cisplatin plus cyclophosphamide versus cisplatin plus paclitaxel as first-line therapy.
Population
Women with incompletely resected (suboptimal, >1 cm residual) FIGO stage III or IV epithelial ovarian cancer.
Primary Endpoint
Overall survival (and progression-free survival)
Key Result
Cisplatin/paclitaxel improved median PFS (18 vs 13 months) and median OS (38 vs 24 months) versus cisplatin/cyclophosphamide (relative risk of death 0.60).
Guideline Impact
Defined platinum-taxane as first-line ovarian cancer standard (NCCN/ESMO)
