Design

Randomized phase 3 trial of radiotherapy plus one of three concurrent chemotherapy regimens: weekly cisplatin; cisplatin/fluorouracil/hydroxyurea; or hydroxyurea alone.

Population

Women with locally advanced (FIGO stage IIB-IVA) cervical cancer confined to the pelvis with negative para-aortic nodes.

Primary Endpoint

Progression-free survival and overall survival

Key Result

Cisplatin-containing regimens improved outcomes over hydroxyurea alone, with relative risk of progression of 0.57 (weekly cisplatin) and 0.55 (cisplatin/5-FU/hydroxyurea) and reduced risk of death (HR ~0.61).
