GOG-240 — Improved Survival with Bevacizumab in Advanced Cervical Cancer
Phase 3 · 2014 · Cervical Cancer
Design
Randomized phase III trial with a 2-by-2 factorial design evaluating the addition of bevacizumab to chemotherapy (cisplatin/paclitaxel or topotecan/paclitaxel) in recurrent, persistent, or metastatic cervical cancer.
Population
Women with recurrent, persistent, or metastatic cervical cancer not curable with standard treatment.
Primary Endpoint
Overall survival
Key Result
Adding bevacizumab to chemotherapy increased median overall survival to 17.0 vs 13.3 months (HR for death 0.71, 98% CI 0.54-0.95; P=0.004) with higher response rates (48% vs 36%).
Guideline Impact
Led to FDA approval and guideline adoption of bevacizumab plus chemotherapy for advanced cervical cancer
