GOG-258 — Adjuvant Chemotherapy plus Radiation for Locally Advanced Endometrial Cancer
Phase 3 · 2019 · Endometrial Cancer
Design
Randomized phase III trial comparing chemoradiotherapy (cisplatin plus volume-directed radiation followed by carboplatin/paclitaxel) with chemotherapy alone (carboplatin/paclitaxel) in optimally debulked advanced endometrial cancer.
Population
Women with stage III or IVA endometrial carcinoma after surgery with no more than 2 cm of residual disease.
Primary Endpoint
Relapse-free survival
Key Result
Chemoradiotherapy was not superior to chemotherapy alone for relapse-free survival (5-year RFS 59% vs 58%; HR 0.90, 90% CI 0.74-1.10); chemoradiation reduced vaginal and pelvic/para-aortic nodal recurrence but distant recurrence was more common.
Guideline Impact
Reinforced systemic chemotherapy (carboplatin/paclitaxel) as standard adjuvant therapy for stage III-IVA endometrial cancer
