SELECT-D — Rivaroxaban Versus Dalteparin for Cancer-Associated Venous Thromboembolism (SELECT-D)

Phase 3 · 2018 · Solid Tumors

Design

Randomized open-label pilot trial of oral rivaroxaban versus subcutaneous dalteparin for 6 months.

Population

Patients with active cancer and symptomatic or incidental venous thromboembolism.

Primary Endpoint

recurrent venous thromboembolism at 6 months

Key Result

6-month cumulative VTE recurrence 11% (dalteparin) vs 4% (rivaroxaban), with higher clinically relevant non-major bleeding in the rivaroxaban arm.

Guideline Impact

Contributed to guideline endorsement of DOACs (with bleeding-risk caveats) for cancer-associated venous thromboembolism
