Randomized, open-label phase 3 trial comparing bortezomib plus lenalidomide and dexamethasone (VRd) versus lenalidomide and dexamethasone (Rd) as initial therapy in newly diagnosed multiple myeloma without intent for immediate transplant.

Population

Patients with newly diagnosed, previously untreated multiple myeloma without intent for immediate autologous stem-cell transplant.

Key Result

VRd improved median progression-free survival to 43 versus 30 months (HR 0.712; 96% CI 0.56-0.906; P=0.0018) and median overall survival to 75 versus 64 months (HR 0.709; 95% CI 0.524-0.959; P=0.025).
