Rationale

MSI-H colorectal tumors are exquisitely sensitive to checkpoint inhibition. CheckMate 8HW tests whether nivolumab plus ipilimumab is superior to chemotherapy — and to nivolumab alone — to establish the optimal immunotherapy backbone for this biomarker-defined group.

Could make dual immunotherapy the standard first-line treatment for MSI-H metastatic colorectal cancer.
