ShortStop-HER2 — Six versus twelve months of HER2-targeted therapy in early HER2-positive breast cancer
Phase 3 · Breast Cancer, HER2-Positive Breast Cancer
Population
Stage I–II HER2-positive breast cancer with a pathologic complete response to neoadjuvant therapy.
Primary Endpoint
Invasive disease-free survival (non-inferiority)
Rationale
A full year of HER2-targeted therapy is standard but costly and can affect the heart. ShortStop-HER2 tests whether patients who achieve a complete response to neoadjuvant therapy can safely stop treatment at six months.
What It Could Change
Could halve the duration of HER2-targeted therapy for many early-stage patients without sacrificing outcomes.
