177Lu-PSMA I&T — Investigational Agent
Radiopharmaceutical · Phase 3 · Lantheus / POINT Biopharma
Mechanism of Action
177Lu-PSMA I&T (Imaging and Therapy) is a beta-emitting radiopharmaceutical. It uses a PSMA-targeting small molecule ligand (I&T) labeled with the radioisotope Lutetium-177. The ligand binds to the extracellular domain of PSMA on prostate cancer cells. Lutetium-177 decays by emitting beta particles (electrons) that cause oxidative stress and DNA damage in the targeted cell and immediate neighbors (crossfire effect), leading to apoptosis.
Investigational Indications
- Metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC)
